Tucson Moms

tucsonmoms.com

Tucson Moms was started in the year 2000 by two moms – Lisa Locke and Elizabeth Boccardo. Lisa moved to Tucson from Northern California and started searching for a support group right away. Not having much luck, she suggested to a group of mothers she had connected with to establish a group here in town to offer assistance, guidance as well as friendship to the Tucson local community. From this concept, the very first Tucson Moms playgroup was created!

Each of the women committed to volunteering as well as helping get the fledgling team up and running. In its first year, Tucson Moms was speedily established as a nonprofit business, and a website, brochure, as well as newsletter, were started within the first couple of months. The brochure was sent out throughout the city much like it is today; to pediatrician practices, libraries, recreation area and recreation classes, and so on. Many community groups, as well as businesses, were supportive along with helping hand out the sales brochure, but word of mouth is what truly grew Tucson Moms and in the first year, over a hundred moms became members. Nowadays, they operate very much in the same manner they did in 2000. They provide support and friendship to moms, kids, and also the whole family and philanthropic service to the Tucson nonprofit community.
